Holding onto truth when everything else feels like it’s slipping away

*The wind was wild.

My scarf flew above me like a flag of quiet defiance.
And though I sat in the dirt, I felt nothing less than holy.*

The Moment I Almost Let Go

There are moments when life doesn’t ask us to speak up or take a stand—
it simply asks us to hold on.

Recently, I had a dream.
One of those vivid, emotional dreams that stays with you, like a song hummed in the background of your day.
In it, I found myself outside, the wind howling around me, my pants nearly slipping, my scarf billowing wildly in the air—and familiar eyes watching.

Not strangers.
Coworkers.
People who know me in one light, one lane—professional, composed, polished.

And there I was—clutching a scarf that felt like my soul.
It was beautiful. It was mine.
And I didn’t want to let it go.

That’s when I knew:
This wasn’t just a dream.
This was a mirror.

The Dreamscape: Beauty in the Wind

Earlier that day, I’d shared something deeply personal in a space not typically designed for soul stories. A creative project rooted in nature, spirituality, and my own reflections. Not required. Not expected. But deeply me.

That quiet act of honesty stirred something inside. And I believe it wove its way into the dream I had later that night.

In the dream, I stepped out of a formal training room and into the open wind.
And there it was—my scarf—dancing in the air like a sacred thing.
I held it above me, amazed by how lovely it looked fluttering wildly in the wind. Even as the breeze threatened to knock me over, I couldn’t help but admire it.

“She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.” — Proverbs 31:25

Holding the Scarf: What I Realized

That scarf wasn’t just fabric.
It was a living metaphor—my faith, my softness, my spiritual lens, my voice.
The very things that make me me—but don’t always “fit” in a conventional environment.

The wind was strong.
At one point, I nearly got carried away by it—like a kite without an anchor.
So I sat down to steady myself.
Not to hide—but to stay grounded.
To hold on better.

And even though people were watching, I didn’t shrink.
I didn’t fold the scarf away.
I kept admiring it, right there in the wind.

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…” — Romans 12:2

Soul Insights

1. The Wind is Change—but it isn’t the Enemy

Sometimes, the wind is God in motion.
It feels disruptive, but it may be there to move you from survival to calling.

“The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going.” — John 3:8

2. Holding On Is an Act of Worship

Holding on to your calling, even when it feels inconvenient or out of place, is a form of sacred resistance.
It’s a whispered yes to God.

3. Not All Eyes Are Judgmental

You may feel watched, but not every gaze is meant to shrink you.
Some are simply in awe that you haven’t let go.
Others may be longing to hold onto their own scarf again.

“Don’t shrink yourself to fit places you’ve outgrown.” — Unknown

4. You Are Allowed to Be Whole

You don’t have to disassemble yourself to belong.
You can be both professional and poetic, grounded and wild, faithful and real.

“You either walk inside your story and own it, or you stand outside your story and hustle for your worthiness.” — Brené Brown

5. The Ground is Your Friend

When the wind roars and you’re afraid you’ll be blown away—sit down.
Root yourself.
Anchor yourself next to someone safe.
Stillness is also strength.

Final Thoughts: When the Wind Comes for You

Maybe you’ve been there.
Maybe you’re there right now.

You’ve shared something honest, something sacred.
And now, the wind has picked up.
Eyes are on you. Doubt tries to slip in like loose fabric.
But in your hands is something beautiful—your scarf.

Let it billow.
Let it shine.

Don’t let go.

Admire it.
Wrap it around your shoulders.
Let the wind dance through it.

Because your story, your softness, your soul voice—
they are too beautiful to fold away just because the room doesn’t seem ready.

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” — Romans 8:28

Reflective Prompt:

What scarf are you holding onto right now?
What part of yourself are you being called to honor, even in the presence of wind or watching eyes?
