Awaken the Royalty Within

Have you ever felt like life has stripped away your sense of purpose, leaving you feeling defeated and unsure of who you are? Maybe you’ve faced setbacks, made mistakes, or missed out on what you thought were once-in-a-lifetime opportunities. It’s easy to feel like all hope is lost, like you’ve lost your way or your value. But what if I told you that no matter what life throws at you, there’s a king or queen inside you that can never be taken away?

The prophet Micah, in a time of great turmoil for the people of Judah, delivered a powerful message of hope. After the loss of their king, the people of Israel were left feeling defeated and leaderless. They thought it was all over, that their future was gone with their fallen leader. But Micah boldly proclaimed, “Now why do you cry aloud? Is there no king in you?” (Micah 4:9 ESV). This wasn’t just a question; it was a wake-up call to recognize the royalty within them—a royalty not dependent on external circumstances but on the identity given to them by God.

Recognizing the Royalty Within You

Today, God is asking each of us the same question: “Is there no king in you?” You may have made mistakes or gone through seasons of deep disappointment, but that does not change who you are. You are still a child of the Most High God, crowned with favor and clothed in honor. The challenge is to see yourself the way God sees you—not through the lens of your failures, but through the lens of your divine identity.

I’ve experienced moments when I felt stripped of my sense of direction and worth, just like the people of Judah. After a significant break-up, I remember feeling lost and uncertain about my future. I questioned my decisions and doubted my value. It was as if I had lost sight of the person I was meant to be. But in those moments of feeling like I had lost everything, I was gently reminded of the royalty within me—the part of me that is unshakable because it is rooted in who God says I am, not in what life says I am. It wasn’t an immediate transformation; it was a gradual process of calling out the queen within me and reclaiming my sense of worth and purpose.

Calling Out the King or Queen Inside

Life can make us feel small, defeated, or like we don’t have what it takes. When we face failure or disappointment, it’s easy to shrink back, to think that our best days are behind us. But God sees the royalty within us even when we can’t. He sees the potential, the strength, the wisdom, and the grace that He has planted deep inside.

I had another defining moment when I felt called to step into a new role at church that required more leadership and public speaking. My first instinct was to disqualify myself. “Who am I to lead? What if I fail?” I thought. But then I remembered Micah’s question: “Is there no king in you?” I realized that my hesitation was not from a lack of ability but from forgetting who I was in Christ. I began to call out the leader within me, the part of me that God had equipped for such a time as this. I embraced the opportunity, and through it, I discovered a depth of courage and capability I didn’t know I had.

Awakening to Your Divine Identity

You have to start calling out that king, calling out that queen. Speak to the part of yourself that is aligned with God’s vision for you. When the world tells you that you’re not enough, remember that you have royal blood flowing through your veins. When your own thoughts try to convince you that you’ve missed your chance or that you’re defined by your past mistakes, remind yourself that the King of Kings calls you His own. The royalty within you is not just a title; it’s a call to action. It’s time to release what God has put inside of you.

A Prayer to Embrace Your Royalty

Father, thank You that You can see the royalty in me even when I’ve failed. Thank You that as Your child, I am crowned with favor and clothed in honor. Help me to release all that You put inside and become who You say I am. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Self-Assessment Questions:

  1. What parts of your identity have you been neglecting or doubting?
Reflect on areas of your life where you’ve let failures or disappointments define you. How can you start calling out the royalty within you in these areas?
  2. How can you step into your royal identity today?
Think about a current challenge or opportunity you’re facing. What would it look like to approach it with the mindset of a king or queen? How can you release the potential God has placed in you?

Final Thoughts:

Life will always have moments that make us question our worth and our purpose. But in those moments, remember that there is royalty within you that cannot be shaken. It’s not based on what you’ve done or what has been done to you, but on who you are in God’s eyes. Rise up, take your place, and let the world see the king or queen that is still inside you. Embrace your divine identity, and let it lead you to places you never imagined you could go.
