Author’s Notes: I wrote this haiku while reflecting on Death Valley. The scorching heat, dryness, and the lives of desert creatures there are unimaginable to me. Yet, despite the harsh environment, life finds a way to thrive, much like in our own lives. I also translated the haiku into Japanese. When I shared it with a colleague, she laughed because it evoked a humorous image for her. Whether you find it funny or gain something meaningful from it, I hope you enjoy it.
