Author’s notes:

I was inspired to write this haiku while reading about fractal patterns, which led me to reflect on the intricacies of a labyrinth. If you’re unfamiliar with fractal patterns, they are essentially repeating patterns that appear at every scale, forming complex structures from simple, repetitive designs. These patterns reflect the fundamental order of the cosmos.

Walter Russell’s work particularly fascinated me, as he emphasized the spiral in his fractal geometry. Russell considered the spiral a fundamental shape in nature, symbolizing the universe’s dynamic, creative force. He believed spirals embody both centripetal (inward) and centrifugal (outward) movements, which balance each other. This spiral form is evident in various natural phenomena, such as galaxies, hurricanes, seashells, and even the structure of atoms.

Inspired by these ideas, I wrote my haiku to capture the essence of fractal patterns and their profound connection to the natural world.
