What things give you energy?

When people ask me what gives me energy, they expect me to say coffee. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll never turn down a good latte, but caffeine isn’t what fuels me. What really charges my batteries is creating. Give me a blank page, a messy draft, or even a haiku waiting to be born, and suddenly I’m wide awake. Writing isn’t draining for me, it’s oxygen. It’s where my spirit exhales.

Then there’s music. If BTS is on, I come alive in ways that no workout drink could ever manage. Their lyrics remind me why I dream, why I fight for joy, and why I refuse to settle for a half-lived life. Put me in an ARMY café in Seoul or let me relive BTS concert stages, and I promise I’ll have more energy than a kid on pixie sticks. Music doesn’t just get me moving, it reminds me who I am.

And finally, prayer and presence. There’s nothing like a walk by the beach while talking with God to reset my whole body and soul. That salty breeze, the rhythm of the waves, the conversation with the One who knows me best, that’s fuel. Add in laughter with friends, a good meal that actually nourishes me, or planning the next adventure, and I’m practically glowing. Energy doesn’t come from one thing. It comes from living aligned with who I am, from writing, music, faith, and joy-filled moments that remind me life is meant to be fully lived.
