One Last Workday, One Big Leap of Heart

This morning, I woke up with my heart racing, my to-do list blinking like an alert, and my suitcase silently judging me from the corner of the room.

Welcome to Departure Day.

There’s something wildly surreal about heading into work like it’s just another Wednesday, knowing that by nightfall I’ll be boarding a plane bound for the other side of the world.

My calendar says “meeting.”

My soul says “Seoul.”

A part of me is still toggling between emails.

The rest of me is halfway across the Pacific, standing under a sky full of purple.

From Clock-In to Takeoff

Yes, I’m still working a full day today—because responsibility doesn’t vanish just because your heart’s in another country.

But once I clock out, the ritual begins:

Shower. Final prep. Something quick for dinner. Deep breaths.

Then my coworker (and fellow ARMY) and I will head to the airport—BTS in our earbuds, nerves in our chests, and hope packed between every zippered pocket.

“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” —Ecclesiastes 3:1

The in-between carries a gentle gravity—a soft, pulsing stillness that feels like standing at the edge of something real.

I’ve downloaded K-dramas and movies for the flight, and I packed Tim Grahl’s Your First 1,000 Copies on book marketing.

Will I actually focus long enough to read? Maybe. Maybe not. But it feels good to bring something that anchors me to the next chapter of my life.

🧳 What Makes This Trip Different

I’ve been to Korea for BTS before.

But this trip feels louder. Fuller. Holier.

It’s BTS’s 12th anniversary—FESTA week.

There’s an ARMY Zone. There’s a J-Hope concert.

There’s the possibility that recently discharged members might show up.

And somewhere in all of it, there’s a whisper I’ve been needing to hear again.

“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.” —Proverbs 16:3

This isn’t just a getaway. It’s a sacred return.

Not just to Korea, but to a part of myself that’s been waiting quietly to be seen again.

Soul Insights

1. You don’t have to feel “ready” to say yes

Readiness is a myth we use to delay obedience. Growth starts in the messy middle—before your socks are even packed. I’m saying yes today because something in me knows the timing is divine, even if the laundry isn’t done.

2. Transition is holy space

Departure days live between the lines of your current life and your becoming. That space—awkward, uncertain, charged with emotion—is sacred. It’s often in these thresholds that God whispers the clearest.

3. Joy and responsibility can coexist

I can go to work and still feel giddy about what’s coming. I can load a dishwasher and still be spiritually expectant. Life isn’t all-or-nothing. Sometimes it’s both—and both are holy.

4. Preparation is worship

Packing a carry-on, creating a playlist, charging your devices—these are more than tasks. They’re declarations of belief. Every small act says: I trust something beautiful is coming.

5. Don’t underestimate small beginnings

The biggest shifts often start with a simple “yes.” A zippered suitcase. A one-way ticket. A leap of heart. God has a history of using ordinary steps to lead to extraordinary destinations.

🌌 Final Thoughts Before the Gate

I’m not boarding this plane with a plan.

I’m boarding with open palms.

“The Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.”

—Psalm 121:8

I don’t know what this journey will hold.

I don’t know who I’ll meet or what memory will leave its mark.

But I know I’m walking into something meaningful.

This isn’t just a departure. It’s a declaration.

That I’m still willing to hope.

Still willing to chase beauty.

Still willing to believe that somewhere in Seoul, a part of my soul is waiting to be found again.

Next stop: the clouds ☁️☁️☁️.

And somewhere beyond them—belonging. 💜
