What can protect us from the plagues of this world? The answer has always been the same—the precious blood of the Lamb.

The 10 plagues sent by God demonstrated that the gods of Egypt were powerless, revealing to the Israelites that the God of their forefathers was alive, omnipotent, and worthy of worship. Only the blood of an innocent sacrifice spared them from death – as stated in Exodus 12:13. Beloved, in the same way, it is only through the precious blood of Christ that we receive salvation – 1 Peter 1:2, 19-21.

Exodus 12:13 NIV: “The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are, and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt.”

In Exodus 5-11, God sent devastating plagues upon Pharaoh and his people because they refused to release the Israelites from slavery. The final and most severe plague was the death of all firstborn sons. However, God instructed the Israelites to put the blood of a lamb on the doorposts of their homes (Exodus 12:21-23). When the death angel passed over, those whose homes were marked with the blood were protected, and no harm came to them. Thousands of Egyptians lost their lives that night, but the Israelites remained unharmed, despite living in close proximity. What made the difference? One group had the blood of the lamb covering them, and the other did not. One was sheltered by the Most High, and the other was not.

Just as the blood of the lamb protected the Israelites during Passover, the blood of Jesus, our ultimate Passover Lamb, now protects and saves us eternally. Hebrews 9:22 reminds us, “Without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness of sins.” The blood of Christ, therefore, is our eternal hope.

When you honor God, He shields you when trouble comes. The challenges that bring others down cannot bring you down. The troubles that defeat others will not defeat you. You do not need to live in fear of what might happen—whether it be disease, loss, or disaster. Because of the precious blood of the Lamb, you belong to the Most High God.

Take a moment to reflect: Where in your life do you need to trust in the protection of Christ’s blood? What burdens or fears are you carrying that can be released by this assurance?

Prayer

Father, I thank You for the powerful covering of Jesus’ blood over my life. I declare that Your protection surrounds every area of my being—my health, my family, my mind, and my spirit. I release all fear into Your hands, knowing that I am safe in the shelter of the Most High. No weapon formed against me will prevail because I stand under Your mighty protection. In Jesus’ victorious Name, I pray. Amen.
