In the hustle and bustle of daily life, we often find ourselves juggling countless responsibilities: paying the mortgage or rent, managing bills, grocery shopping, caring for children, studying, building a career, and supporting family. Amidst all these duties, our own mental and physical health can sometimes take a backseat.
Recognizing this, my workplace has introduced wellness hours to encourage employees to prioritize their well-being. Although I don’t always take advantage of these hours, when I do, I focus on activities that nurture my mind and body.
I practice self-care through reading and journaling, finding both activities therapeutic. Immersing myself in books on self-improvement, spirituality, and fiction helps me unwind. Currently, I’m reading “55 Questions to Ask Yourself” by Manoj Chenthamarakshan, which offers profound insights into self-reflection.
My journaling habit helps me organize my thoughts and gain clarity. Whether I write in the morning or at the end of the day, it provides a space for self-expression and introspection. Revisiting old entries often reveals ongoing challenges and personal growth.
I also indulge in hobbies like learning new languages and musical pieces. Although I haven’t been active in language learning recently, I plan to resume soon. Music, on the other hand, is a constant companion, whether on my commute or at home. I enjoy spiritual, uplifting, and upbeat songs that enhance my mood.
Another aspect of my self-care routine involves filling my mind with positivity and shifting my perspective. I achieve this by listening to uplifting podcasts, particularly those featuring near-death experiences. These stories are not only fascinating and inspirational but also educational, offering me new insights and a broader perspective.
What are your favorite activities for self-care? How do you ensure you’re taking time to nurture your well-being amidst life’s many demands?

Over the years, I’ve realized the importance of nurturing relationships. Friends and family are my support system, providing love, encouragement, and perspective. I make it a point to stay connected, whether through a quick message, a coffee catch-up, or a heartfelt conversation. These relationships are the anchors that keep me grounded and remind me of what truly matters.
- Challenge Yourself
I’ve discovered the importance of continually challenging myself. Stepping out of my comfort zone and setting new goals has led to personal and professional growth.
