Returning to Los Angeles was more than a simple move; it was a journey filled with subtle hints and an irresistible allure. My connection to LA was symbolized by something as small as my phone number. The 310 area code was a badge of honor, a testament to my deep-rooted ties to the city. The thought of changing it to a 408 from Northern California never crossed my mind. The prospect of notifying everyone in my contact list about a new number seemed like an insurmountable task, so I chose not to bother.

My friends in LA couldn’t understand my prolonged stay in Northern California, which had stretched to four long years. What was supposed to be a temporary move of a year or two had turned into an extended stay. To them, my return to LA was inevitable. Los Angeles felt like home, pulsating with life, iconic landmarks, and the relentless energy of a city always on the move.

Visiting San Jose had its moments, but living there felt dull in comparison. It was a place people settled down to start families. Los Angeles, on the other hand, offered the vibrant chaos of life in the fast lane, from Hollywood to Santa Monica, from the Dodgers to the LA Galaxy. The city was a canvas of art, music, glamour, and endless entertainment options, perfectly matching my tastes.

The tech giants up north, like Facebook, Google, Cisco, Apple, eBay, X, and HP, defined a world that didn’t quite resonate with me. Maybe if I’d pursued a degree in Computer Science or Engineering, I’d have felt differently. But the glamour and vibrancy of Los Angeles had already claimed my heart.

The weather in LA was another major draw. With pleasant 70-degree temperatures year-round, except during the occasional fire season, it was a climate that suited me perfectly. Even in Northern California, they experienced their share of fire seasons, bringing the eerie smog and haze familiar to Los Angeles residents.

These signs and experiences were reminders of my deep connection to Los Angeles. I had first arrived in 1999, left in 2005, and returned in 2009. The city’s charm had lured me back, making me feel like I had finally come home once again. Los Angeles has a way of doing that – pulling you back with its undeniable allure.
